Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari Jhulan Yatra Celebration (Swing Festival)
Jhulan Yatra is a joyful festival celebrating the loving pastimes of Sri Sri Radha and Krishna during the monsoon month of Shravana. It is especially grand in Vrindavan, where thousands of devotees gather to witness the Divine Couple seated on beautifully decorated swings adorned with flowers, creepers, and fragrant garlands.
During the festival, the Deities are gently placed on ornate swings, offered ārati, kirtan, and flowers, after which devotees lovingly take turns swinging Them while chanting the holy names. The gentle motion of the swing symbolizes an act of personal service, offering comfort and pleasure to Radha and Krishna during the warm, humid monsoon season.
Jhulan Yatra is traditionally observed for five days, though in Vrindavan it may continue until Jhulan Purnima, which also marks the divine appearance day of Lord Balarama.
More than a celebration, Jhulan Yatra is an opportunity for devotees to express their love through simple, heartfelt service, remembering the eternal pastimes of Radha and Krishna and deepening their devotion through kirtan, prayer, and personal participation.
Jhulan Yatra is among the most auspicious festivals. It is also known as the swing festival. It is a festival to celebrate Radha Krishna’s pastime of swinging on a golden swing everyday until Balarama-purnima.
ISKCON Juhu celebrates the sacred festival of Jhulan Yatra (Swing festival) in the auspicious sacred month of Shravana (July-Aug). It begins on the Pavitropanna Ekadashi in the waxing phase of the moon and continues till Balaram Purnima (Full moon).
